Godly Play

At D&P, the Sunday morning children's program is called Godly Play.
Godly Play is a Montessori-based learning program that engages children with sacred story, liturgy and the life of Jesus. This is a whole different way to creatively engage children in wonder, story and a relationship with
God.

Do the kids love our programs? YES! It's definitely not like traditional 'Sunday school', and children are eager to attend each week. We have a team of adults who present this program and are trained as Godly Play storytellers.

There are two Godly Play groups for children ages 4-7 and for ages 8-12. Find out more about Godly Play by clicking on this link - Godly Play.

Have a look at some photos of our Godly Play program:

Kieran, Scott and Rebecca hear the story of The Exodus – one of the many stories told in the Desert Box.  Godly Play includes Sacred Stories (the stories of God’s people throughout the OT), Parables, stories from the life of Jesus and liturgical stories

During the work time, children choose how they want to respond to the story.  Here, Nathan and Lauren work with the materials from the Baptism lesson, exploring its meaning and retelling the story to one another.  (yes, children are well supervised with the candles!)

Vanessa and Alec work on their own reflections on the story “The Ten Best Ways to Live” (The 10 Commandments)

The Children’s Chapel – our Godly Play room for the 8-12 year olds.

Kieran, a gifted artist and creative writer, often enjoys sketching or writing as part of his own work time.
